The ETA-1 Universal Telephone Analyser has been designed for testing conventional single and multi-line telephones and the new technology electronic telephones, including hybrids with analog audio, and the full digital phones.
Tests such as on-hook voltage, off-hook voltage, on-line listen, tone sweep, high voltage pulse test and all wire combination listen tests are accomplished in minimal time. For example, in a 50 wire cable, which is common with a 5-line business telephone, there are 1225 possible 2-wire combinations. With ETA-1, all can be thoroughly tested in 60 seconds. Furthermore, ETA-1 tests for all audio paths, even those initiating across a lamp or ringer.
